Mangaluru: District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai offered ‘Baagina’ to Netravati river at newly built Tumbe vented dam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion he said that former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has helped to sanction more funds for the construction of new Tumbe vented dam. People of Mangaluru will not face scarcity of water this year.

“Proper compensation will be given to the farmers whose land will be submerged. We should save the water as we pledge to save forests. Vented dams will help to improve the underground water level also,” he said.

MLAs J R Lobo, Mohiudhin Bava, MCC Mayor Harinath, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Bantwal TP Vice-President Muhammad Abbas Ali and others were present.
