Bantwal : At last there is some relief from HPCL for the families which were put into great trouble due to the gas tanker mishap reported from Perne near Uppinangady a couple of months ago.

On July 21, Sunday, DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai distributed cheques totaling to Rs 43.2 lakhs to 14 persons  of the  affected families. Sundar Rai got a cheque for Rs 7.43 lakh, Lakshman Rai received a cheque for Rs 2.83 lakh, while children of deceased Khathijamma received Rs 3.93 lakh. Others who received cheques were  Narayan Naik –Rs 4.10 lakh, Batya Naik who got Rs 1.23 lakh, Ismail Shafi got Rs  4.04 lakh, Ummar received 3.02 lakh, Abbas 99 ,000, Umappa Poojary Rs 3.58 lakh, G Ummar Rs 1.24 lakh, Chandrashekar Rs 90,000, Abdullah -Rs 1.60 lakh and Yousuf – Rs 26,000.

Among others present were Shakuntala Shetty, MLA and Chandraprakash Shetty, ZP member.
