Mangalore: The District Congress committee staged a protest in front of the DC office in Mangalore on October 30, Tuesday demanding accounts from the state government regarding the funds released by the Centre to the state.
Addressing the agitators, District Congress President B Ramanatha Rai alleged that the state JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy has only backed the BJP by countering the statement made by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Mangalore. He also blamed HDK for helping BJP come to power in Karnataka.
Rai also stated that DK District had received Rs 200 crore grants from the Centre and flayed the BJP government for still criticizing the Centre. Several Congress leaders including Mayor Gulzar Banu, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, former Suratkal MLA Vijaykumar Shetty, PV Mohan, Suresh Ballal and former mayor Shashidar Hegde took part in the protest.
