Mangalore : The Preparations for the three-day ‘Ramotsav’ organized by Sri Ramotsava Samiti, in association with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bhajrang Dal, Matru Mandali, and Durgavahini to be held at Nehru Maidan from April 19 to 21 is on full swing.
Speaking at a press meet held at Nehru Maidan on April 18, Thursday, Pushparaj Jain, President of Ramotsava Committee said that this has been the 12th year of Ramotsava celebration.
Explaining the purpose of holding the event, he said that in today’s world, people still follow the values and principles of Lord Rama.
He said that the committee is expecting around 25,000 devotees to participate in the event. The event will conduct Narthana Bhajan competition on Friday, in which a total of 18 teams from the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi will participate, he said.
He also said that a 25-feet tall Ravana statue will be erected and conclude with ‘Ravana Dahana’ programme on April 21, Sunday at 8 pm.
Various cultural programmes including plays and dance-dramas will be held on all the three days, he added.
VHP leaders M B Puranik, Dr P Ananthkrishna Bhat and Jagadish Shenava, Jitendra Kottari and Sharan Pumpwell were also present in the press meet.
