Mangalore : Rani Abbakka Festival committee staged a protest against speaker Kagodu Thimmappa for the recent statement of Rani Abbakka, here  on Saturday August 3.

The committee  president K Jayaram Shetty said without knowing her history he cannot question the service of Rani Abbakka for the country, speaker should say sorry for insulted her.

Speaker, do not, U T Khader should do so on his behalf of him, otherwise, we will call for bandh in Ullal,” he said.

Four ministers from Dakshina Kannada who were present when the speaker insulted Abbakka did not respond to the situation. U T Khader who is the honorary president of the committee which celebrates in memory of Rani Abbakka every year has remained silent he said.

Zilla panchayat member Satish Kumar Kumpala, Santosh Kumar Rai Boliyaru, Seetaram Bangera, Balakrishna Banajalu, Jayashree, Rajeevi Kempumannu and others were present.
