The Rao & Rao circle close to the city Bus stand and SBI is being divided to facilitate people’s movement in a Central place in the port city.
The dividers are now being installed, but due to furious reactions from people them selves has led to the postponement of the work under public protest. The dividers at Rao & Rao area seem to have irritated the shopkeepers, fisherwomen in a market place, and also Autorickshaw drivers (who go longer distance and charge more), besides free-footed common people moving about, who joined in the protest rally against density in the area when dividers do not help, sources told the MM News service.
Dividers installation creates new problems instead of solving the old problems of congestion and free movement. People coming by Autos from offices to catch a service bus have to pay more, while passing Central Maidan Cross Road, Town Hall, and RTO to reach service (private) Bus stand. This round about route would cost more and swindling is possible, travelers stated. Shop keepers and goods carriers also have to go round a distances, they added.
The people who are so inconvenienced have given a complaint to DC at 5Pm on Thursday as Rao & Rao Circle is likely to be totally closed soon. If the disturbance is not remedied, people will take to serious protest rallies, the demonstrators informed pressmen on the prowl.
