Bhatkal:  In a horrendous incident, a man has been accused of raping and attacking a six year old girl on the night of October 9, Tuesday. The incident led to tension in the town. The accused Sridhar Naika of Puravarga Mugalihonda has been arrested.

The victim has been hospitalized. As people gathered information hundreds of people laid siege to the local police station and demanded stern punishment against the accused.

The incident is learnt to have occurred when a girl from the family of the accused had brought the six year old girl to play. The incident came to light when the little girl returned home with torn dress and informed her parents.

Members of a local youth organization Azad Youth Club barged into the house of the accused on coming to know of the incident, he was later arrested.
