Mangalore : One Chittaranjan Shetty alias Chittu suspected to be a close aid of underworld don Ravi Poojari, was arrested at Tokkottu by the police on November 22, Thursday in connection with the case of bid to kidnap  Cyprian D’Souza, an entrepreneur from Kinnigoli nearly a month ago.

As reported earlier Cyprian who was returning in his care after dropping children at school, was waylaid by a group which came by a car and wielding a revolver made an attempt to kidnap him.

D’Souza was lucky as his  cries were heard by locals who rushed to the spot. Following this incident, D’Souza had received a call demanding Rs 2 lakh. The person identified himself  as an aide of Ravi Poojari

It is learnt, the arrested man Chittaranjan, has admitted his guilt and  informed that four persons had tried to kidnap Cyprian. He has revealed the names of the other assailants as  Subrahmanya aka Sachu from Muchur, Bharatesh from Bengare and the car driver.
