Udupi : A rowdy sheeter was brutally hacked to death in broad daylight in Hiriyadka police station limits on Thursday.

Kishen Hegde (42), a rowdy sheeter, was travelling with a friend in a car. A dozen people armed with lethal weapons followed him in two cars. They hacked Kishen to death in the market area.

He is said to have run the real estate business.

Police sources said Kishen was in many murder cases registered in the police station.

Kishan’s car was also damaged by the gang. The assailants escaped on the road leading towards Karkala as per sources. As many as 15 people were in the gang, said reports.

Checkposts have been set up on district borders to apprehend the culprits.

Hiriyadka police visited the spot and a case was registered in Hiriyadka police station.
