Bantwal: A Survey department government official was caught red-handed in his greed, by Lokayukta police at B.C. Road on Monday, Jan.30, while accepting Rs 7,500 as a bride from a client.
The greedy govt. employee was Pramod Kumar (39), who had been transferred from Sullia to Bantwal Cross Road 2 year ago.
Laksman Poojary of Kolnad had complained to Lokayukta police on being harassed by Kumar, to get a job done only by playing extra money LA officials Sadananda Vernekar and Uday Naik led the ‘fish catch’ operation, in which Kumar was caught, and they arrested him.
Kumar was obstructing Laxman and 4 of his brothers in the matter of succession to the property of their late father, Rama.
Kumar had the file on succession, and demanded Rs, 7500 as bride to issue 5 certificates. A trap was set for Kumar, who fell into it like a leopard in the net.
Several people who watched the raid, complained to the LA officials about injustice and inconvenience they faced in the survey office. Uday Naik told the local people, he wanted written complaints to follow up similar cases.
