Mangalore : Two persons namely Mustafa Abdul Rehman and Abdul Kalam alias Asad arrested in connection with the seizure of huge quantity of the endangered Red Sandalwood also known as Rakta Chandana  at NMPT, have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody

The Red Sandalwood  was found concealed in a container of plywood meant for export to Dubai at the NMPT container yard.

The operation was conducted by the DRI on the basis of a tip off. The container belonged to Rnath Exports, Maradu, Cochin and was declared to contain Plywood for export to Jebel Ali. Dubai. The seized red sandalwood logs weighed 5810 kg and the total value has been estimated at Rs.58,10,000.
