Kasargod : Fishermen across the coastal belt in the district are finding items like refrigerator, bulbs, footballs etc washed ashore since the past few days. However the reason for the same is not yet known.
The Coat Guards have said as there has been no recent instead of any ship capsize anywhere in the state, they fail to understand as to from where these things are being washed ashore.
Sources said investigations are underway if these things have anything to do with a cargo vessel that had capsized off the Mumbai coast three months ago. The vessel heading towards Jeddah from Singapore reputedly had ammunitions.
Meanwhile, the incident has pleased people living close by the shores. If some have taken the products home, some others have sold them at whatever price they could. Some even sold the Adidas brand football costing at least Rs 2500 for just Rs 200.
At the same time the development caused anxiety among locals. Some found refrigerators which suffered minor damages and kept them for themselves hoping they can use it as storage for fish.
Meanwhile the police department has cautioned locals against touching any suspicious objects that are washed ashore.
