Mangaluru : City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, a religious conversion attempt is learnt to have played an important role in the recent case reported from Morgansgate where four members of a family including two children were found dead. Even the death note left behind by the deceased Nagesh had mentioned about conversion.
Speaking to reporters on December 11, Saturday, Shashi Kumar said the arrested woman Noor Jahan was a marriage broker and was pestering the deceased Vijayalakshmi to divorce her husband and assured that she would give her in marriage to a Muslim man. The woman also had presurised Vijayalakshmi to convert the children.
The family of Nagesh which was initially staying in an apartment of Noorjahan had later shifted elsewhere. Some time back Vijayalakshmi had reportedly stayed at Noorjahan’s house, the Commissioner said.
He added that Vijayalakshmi’s photo was found in Noor Jahan’s house but there is no information as to whether conversion took place. The Commissioner said Noor Jahan had even arranged an advocate to apply for divorce.
It is learnt, Nagesh had fought with his wife over the issue and then killed her and the children by strangulating them and then had committed suicide.
