Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and city police chief T R Suresh have placed restrictions on religious, political and social gatherings in four taluks of the district for 18 hours from 6am on Wednesday.
This comes in wake of any attempt to celebrate December 6 either as a black day or Vijayotsava to mark the demolition of disputed Babri masjid at Ayodhya. The curbs have been ordered under Section 35 of the Karnataka Police Act and bars open meetings, processions, jathas, dharnas, protests, rasta-rokos and any attempts to lay siege to government or other private properties.
Suresh and district police chief C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy said police force of the two units have been kept in full readiness to deal with any attempts to vitiate law and order situation in the district on account of celebration or protest.
