Mangaluru : After a full year wait the renovated Town Hall of Mangaluru City Corporation has finally inaugurated on children’s day November 14, Saturday.
The Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake formally inaugurated ceremony by lighting the lamp while DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai cut the ribbon.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said the Town Hall has been inaugurated on 125 the birthday of India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The Town Hall looks beautiful after several delays of renovation works.
Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, said The Town Hall were lots criticism during renovation, but Town Hall has now ready to the city. The city will develop each and every citizen joins hands for the development of the city. Thumbay second vented dam is completing soon then the city can get 24 hours water supply, he added.
Ivan D’Souza, MLC urged the state government to introduce a uniform rent system for town halls across Karnataka. The MCC must install solar system to produce electricity for Town Hall, he said.
Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said that The renovated Town Hall should be maintained well . This is the public asset and it is centre of all cultural events.
Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Deputy Mayor Purushottam, Legislators JR Lobo, Mohiuddin Bava, MUDA Chairman Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present.
A tribute was paid to India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion.
Rich tributes were paid to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of his birth anniversary on the occasion. A dance programme was presented on the event.
The total renovation cost around Rs 4.58 crore. Teakwood flooring for the stage, advanced lighting system, better facilities in the green room and LEDs have been installed. The hall is equipped with new lights, seats and air-conditioner and sound proof.
