Bangalore: State Excise Minister Renukacharya is in for trouble after Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda reportedly ordered a probe against him in connection with a case of corruption and favouritism. The CM has asked the Excise Commissioner to submit a report within three days.
The complaint was lodged by a JD(S) leader from Mangalore named Janardhan who alleged that the administration of the excise department was highly unsatisfactory due to the alleged corruption and favouritism resorted to by the minister. He in his complaint also said that an officer who was posted to Mangalore from Hassan, after conducting several raids on authorised liquor outlets had demanded bribe from the owners claiming that he had to share the same with the minister and excise officials.
Dhanraj had also appealed for a thorough probe and action against the minister.
However, the CM’s action has come in for criticism from Yeddyurappa loyalist legislators and ministers.
