Mangalore : The preparation for the Republic Day Celebration is underway in City, with over 5000 students seen practicing at Nehru Maidan for the mega parade to be held for the first time in Dakshina Kannada district on Jan 26.
The preparation is all set to display the talent of the students on the Republic Day is been organized by District Administration at Nehru Maidan.
The students will exhibit gymnastics talent for the tune of Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu songs as a part of cultural programmes.
The programme has been organized under the leadership of Mangalore DDPI Moses Jayashekar. He said that he was inspired to hold such programme after witnessing it in Kollegal, when he was serving as a BEO.
He also said that students from 10 schools will perform gymnastics, while students from 13 schools will give their voice for playback singing.
A team of 40 teachers led by retired teacher S Balakrishna from Kollegal, are supervising the preparation and training students from a month.
