Mangalore : Reshma G Ullal, journalist, ‘Samyukta Karnataka’ Kannada Daily, bagged the the first prize in the essay competition on the topic ‘Message of Peace in the Teachings of Prophet Muhammad’ organized by New Age India Forum (NAIF).
Speaking after receiving the cash prize of Rs. 25, 000 and a memento at the award distribution ceremony held at Shanthi Nilaya, here on Friday, July 16, she said that living in the secular society, she respect all the religions and their leaders. The essay competition was organized for the non-Muslims as part of the “Know the Prophet of Mankind” campaign of NAIF.
The second and third prize winner, Shriti Suvarna and Veekshan Shetty, received the cash prizes of Rs.15, 000 and Rs.10,000 respectively.
Dr. Manjula KT, principal of Besant Women’s Pre University College, said that Islam is considered to be the progressive religion since it disseminates message of peace in mankind.
Chairman of Mohyuddin Education Trust, B Ahmad Haji Mohyuddin, said that all the scholars participated in the competition have explained the personality of Prophet Muhammad according to their knowledge.
NAIF president Rafeeuddeen Kudroli, presided over the programme. M Balakrishna Shetty, Principal, Durga Parameshwari First Grade College of Kateel was also present on the occasion.
