Mangalore: A retention wall of Maravoor vented dam going under construction has been distorted causing flood in the part of area on Monday June 18.

The flood has destructed many trees and 3 houses located near the wall.

One of the flood victims, Oswald said that as his half-acre plot was flooded during the incident, he has lost several coconut trees and half of his house and put his family in distress.

According to the sources, the dam water was stuck by the waste collected in the vented dam gate and when the water was forced to flow, the retention wall collapsed around 4:30 a.m.

At present police department and fire fighters are trying to control the situation.

DC Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, has directed revenue department to evaluate the damage.
