Bangalore : H.D Revanna, elder brother to Kumaraswamy today accused legislature speaker K.G. Bopiah (from Coorg) of collecting Rs.20,000 as monthly rent from the exchequer when Bopiah was still residing in an official bungalow provided by the state.
The JD-S MLA told press persons today that Bopiah was not only receiving the salary of a Speaker at present, but also the salary of Deputy Speaker (which he was earlier). He demanded that the state Governor Bhardwaj should intervene and remove the Speaker. Revanna exhibited the concerned documents relating to two salaries and house rent claimed by the Speaker in the press meet today. He asked what justice could be expected by Opposition parties from such a (selfish) Speaker.
Revanna demanded that criminal cases should be filed against Speaker Bopiah for lowering the dignity of his high office and for throwing legislature rules to the winds by collecting house rents and salaries in a manner not allowed.
