Mangalore : International rickshaw racers, participating in the Rickshaw Challenge Mumbai Express 2011 with the team of 31 members reached Mangalore on August 9, Tuesday..
Although they were flagged off at Mumbai on July 30 and expect to reach Chennai on Aug 12. In Mangalore, they were flagged off from Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Government School, Mallikatte.
The racers have formed 14 teams and targeted to cover 1,919km during this 14-day race.
The aspirants hail from Chile, UK, Australia, Spain, Ireland, New Zealand, and Canada. So far, they have covered 1,176kms and have to cover 743kms more during the next four days.
Further they will cover Mysore, Bangalore, and Vellore on their way to Chennai, since it is not just an adventure race, but also a fund raiser.
This has been a joint association of Rickshaw Challenge and Round Table India, to raise more than €1.5 lakh, which will be used on various development projects.
