Bantwal: Heavy rain that lashed since the past two days in the Bantwal taluk, has left River Netravathi to high level and is reaching above the danger mark.
At present many houses in Aladka have been partially flooded and water have entered in many houses in Panemangalore, Jakribettu, Bantwal and other areas.
Due to the heavy rain, the water level of Netravathi have increased to 8.5 meters from 5.6 meters on Saturday morning.
According to Bantwal Tahsildar Malleswamy, the people from the flood hit areas have been shifted to safer areas.
Floods have been affected Nandavara, Guddeaangady areas destroying several acres of agricultural land, areca and coconut plantations. Apart from it, areas in Goodinabali, Jakribettu, Baddakatte and other areas are also facing problems due to rise in water level.
The heavy rain in DK had forced to open more than 19 gates of the Shambhur AMR dam said AMR Nodal Officer Premanath.
The Bantwal police have made maximum efforts to help flood affected people and ensured smooth movement of traffic.
DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai has also directed officials to help people facing problem, due to floods.
