Mangalore: Since 3 days, the MCC Tiger Van and servicemen are moving around Central Market and Lady Goshen Hospital areas, SBI circle, Hampanakatta and Bunder looking for Footpath/Roadside vendors, to seize their market wares, and evict them from occupying roadside vantage places.
People have an easy movement but vehicles obstruct the roadsides now with Traffic police looking the other way.
Roads are slippery, muddy and unsafe daily. MCC made no alternate arrangement on open grounds near Hampankatta (old Bus stand) for the vendors, while driving them out and when CITU cried hoarse on their poor conditions, they disliked of an interior site likely to be given within the Central Market “free” by MCC face to face. The Central Market is neither properly maintained, nor repaired adequately for sellers. Wholesale traders occupy vacant blocs of street side vendors in Central Market these days.
