Uppinangady : A driver of a mini lorry transporting cooking gas, was assaulted and robbed of ₹ 10,000 in cash in the morning.

The police said that Abdul Rehman, a resident of Mata village, left for work at 5.30 a.m.

Near Medarabettu, Rehman stopped his vehicle as a van came too close to his.

This resulted in a heated exchange of words between Rehman and the van driver. The latter damaged the wind-shield of the mini lorry and reportedly dragged Rehman out of the vehicle.

The van driver rained blows on him and left the place after robbing Rehman of Rs 10,000 in cash.

The injured Rehman has been admitted to a private hospital.

The Uppinangady police have registered a case of robbery and assault.
