Mangalore : While birthdays are observed even cake –cutting ,and Christmas festival is attended by many Hindus in Christion localities , as in Goa , Rosario (Christian )High School celebrated the festival of lights ,the Hindu Deepavali recently.
Parish priest Fr. Roshan (light) D’Souza presided even the event , with Ms .Chandrakala Nandavar retired principal of Ganapathi Junior college as chief guest .
Rosario headmaster Aloysius D‘Souza and Janardhana Rao , a Konkani social activist, were on the dais . The School had observed Ramzan earlier. After a universal prayer, Welcome and introductory remarks by Rao, Ms. Chandrakala in a key speech said lighting festival was an external symbol of light within us, and we must guard the earth as also light up the lives in other people.
Aloysius D’Souza and Fr. Roshan also spoke. Ms.Claudia D’Souza thanked the gathering of teachers, students and guests Rakshita a Std. X student, was master of the ceremony
