Bangalore : Guess how much is being spent on renovating Cauvery, the government bungalow Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided to occupy? Close to Rs one crore!
The Public Works Department (PWD), which has taken up the renovation work, has changed the flooring of the bungalow located on Kumara Krupa Road. Besides the kitchen and the pooja room, all the five toilets have been renovated. Interestingly, the facing of the pooja room has been changed from west to east to make it vaastu-compliant.
Presently, Siddaramaiah is staying in government bungalow No 1, located in Kumara Park East. The chief minister’s security personnel had till recently blocked the road for traffic to ensure security.
Siddaramaiah is likely to occupy Cauvery after his return from the Legislature session in Belgaum. Speaking to reporters after taking part in a programme organised to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, at the KPCC office here on Thursday, Siddaramaiah rubbished allegations that there were irregularities in the renovation of the bungalow.
“The officials have maintained accounts of the works and it will be made public if required. The bungalow in Kumara Park East is small and it is difficult to accommodate visitors there. Hence, the decision to move to Cauvery, which is spacious,” Siddaramaiah said.
Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who was earlier staying in the bungalow, had not made any changes in the building, sources said.
