Belthangady: Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala has said that honorarium totaling to Rs 16 crores has been disbursed among 13000 teachers in various government schools on behalf of the Dharmasthala Community development project, during the past 25 years.
He was speaking after inaugurating the taluk level teachers day programme organized at the Santhekatte Sri Manjunatha Sami Kala Mandir here on September 5, Wednesday.
Heggade said a sum of Rs 5 crore has been utilized to provide infrastructural facilities to schools while Rs one crore has been spent towards repair of school buildings. Rs 21 lakh has been spent for purchase of sports equipment, he added.
MLA K Vasanth Bangera presided over the function. TP Chief Mamatha Gatti, ZP Vice President Dhanalakshmi Janardhan, Town Panchayat President Muguli Narayan Rao, TP Executive Officer Dr KV Nagaraj, Rajaguru Hebbar, President of High School Headmasters Association and others were present on the occasion.
Teachers who retired during the current academic year were felicitated. District best teacher award winners Radhakrishna Koyyur and Tirumaleshwar Bhat were also honoured.
