Mangaluru : The Mangaluru junction railway station, police confiscated Rs 1 crore in cash and 800 grams of gold worth Rs 40 lakh from a person.

The arrested accused is identified as Mahendra Singh Rao (33).

He had arrived via Durando Express train from Panvel in Mumbai. He has been taken into custody and further investigations are on.

The police are on high alert throughout the country to prevent any untoward incidents during Republic Day. In Delhi itself, more than 20, 000 police personnel have been deployed for security.
