Mangaluru : The State government has released Rs. 37 lakh for purchasing a new children’s train (toy train) for Kadri Park, according to J.R. Lobo, MLA, Mangaluru City South.

Speaking to presspersons at the park on Friday he said that existing train is old and not in use.

The new train would have an engine plus three bogies. Minister for Women and Child Welfare Umashree during a meeting here a month ago had promised that the fund would be released for the purchase of the train shortly.

Mr. Lobo said that a committee headed by the Chief Executive Officer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat would take steps to procure the train. Mr. Lobo said that he has released Rs. 30 lakh from his area development fund to install a huge attractive gate to the park.
