Mangalore : A cash of Rs 8 lakh was stolen by unidentified persons by breaking the window of a Swift car which was parked on the side of the National Highway at Kulur on January 9, Wednesday.

The incident took place when one Keshav Shetty of Soorinje near Suratkal, a real estate businessman had gone to lunch in a nearby hotel after parking his car. It is said the cash was the proceeds of the sale of Shetty’s brother’s land. The thieves who first tried to break open the lock, had later broken the window glasses before escaping with the cash kept in the dash board.

A case has been registered in Kavoor police station.
