Kannur : A local leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was hacked to death in Kannur district of Kerala on Monday.
According to reports, the deceased was identified as Elamthottathil Manoj, 42. His friend Pramod was reported to be seriously injured in the attack, allegedly carried out by a group of CPI(M) activists in Ukkasmotta.
The attackers reportedly hurled bombs at the car the victims were travelling in before they were stabbed.
The incident comes during the BJP president Amit Shaha visit to the state.
The RSS has given a shutdown call in the district on Tuesday to protest the incident. More details about the incident were awaited.
