Mangaluru : Vishwanath Suvarna(67), an Former senior RSS Pracharak and former general secretary of Bharatiya Janashakthi Party, Narendra Modi’s Punjab friend passed away at his residence at Pearl Apartment, near Forum Fiza Mall here on on Friday November 7.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Suvarna’s health had deteriorated in the last fortnight and from the past one week he was in an unconscious state. Suvarna had suffered kidney failure after which he was admitted to District Government Wenlock Hospital for dialysis. He was also operated upon for a brain clot, after which he never recovered. He was at home from the past eight days.

His last rites were conducted at the Boloor crematorium at 3 pm. “A message also sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a personal assistant.”

After Suvarna met Modi in 2008 after a gap of 15 years. Singh recalled: “When Modi saw Vishwanath from far at the Bajpe airport, he raised both his hands saying ‘Oye Baba Vishwanath. Kya haal hai? Daadi abhi rakhi hai? And he hugged him.” After this, there were a couple of meetings in Gujarat.

Vishwanath also worked with Uma Bharti as a general secretary .
