Mangalore: Vehicle(Carrier) drivers need to know extensively about taking chemical consignments in their transport journey. If any accident happens on way, the vehicle should have urgent information on goods under reference(say, inflammable oil, or gas, or acids etc) written and kept in the vehicle, to be used by police, ambulance, fire brigade and other officials to be informed, when the accident has taken place(by overturn of vehicle, fall, loss of control at the steering wheel, drunken driving, external effects on the unfortunate vehicle etc.) said Mangalore RTA officer Mallikarjuna on Wednesday(October 9) in an inaugural speech, during a training camp for drivers carrying explosives and dangerous goods on roads.
The camp was organised by state Transport dept. officials union, Indian Oil Corporation, and regional Transport Authority in larger interests.
BCS Kumar of Bangalore Traffic and Safety Trainers addressed the gathering as a resource person. The workshop was sponsored by Shivaraj Patil, chief of Transport officers Union, Bangalore. He informed that state transport vehicles brought Rs.200 crores yearly to state exchequers. S. Jayapalan was chief guest. 250 drivers participated in the training camp.
