Mangalore:  The Savitribai Phule Right to Education Awareness Jatha will be held from May 23 in order to enlighten the society on the Right to Education (RTE) Act. This district wide jatha  organized by the Right to Education Vigilance and Motorizing Committee, is named after Savithribai Phule in recognition of her concern towards making education reachable to the poor and the marginalized sections of the society.

Informing this to reporters, Renny D’Souza, Convener of the Committee, said awareness on the various provisions of the Act will help people identify schools who violate the norms. The vehicle jatha which will begin in Mangalore on May 23 will culminate at Sullia on May 28 after passing through Bantwal, Belthangady and Puttur.
