Mangalore : Citizens; Action for Transparency of Dakshina Kannada organized a district level workshop on the topic  ‘Strengthening democracy through the instrument of RTI’ at Town Hall on October 13, Thursday.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, Justice H R Deshpande, District session court said that the Right to Information Act came in the year 2005, with the aim to provide transparency in the required information.

He also said that this is republic nation and people are the god. The act came is important and using it for the good purpose is necessary and not misuse it.

He said that the consumers’ forum in the district is doing good job.

Later the students held the placards bearing the names of 11 RTI activists and their achievements on the dais.
