Mangalore : Regional Transport Officer C Mallikarjuna has informed that the RTO office in Mangalore will soon have one more camera to take the photographs of driving licence applicants, in view of heavy rush in the office most of the time.
Addressing a Transport Adalat held at the RTO office here on July 10 , Wednesday, Mallikarjuna said presently the RTO office had only one camera resulting in heavy rush and long queues.
He also promised adequate seating arrangements and token system in the RTO office and assured that all measures will be in place within one week.
One of the participants complained that signal lights were not properly functioning to which traffic ACP Subrahamanya said signal lights will be installed at five points in Mangalore as per the permission granted by MCC . He said the process of installation was delayed as the previous tender had to be cancelled.
That oil tankers were not following rules to have two drivers and a cleaner also came up for discussion when the issue was pointed out by DYFI District President Muneer Katipalla. RTO Mallikarjuna said presently 60 to 70 per cent of the oil tankers were following rules and action will follow against those violating rules.
BS Hasanabba, Choodamani of Citizens’ Committee and others raised various problems at the Transport Adalat.
