Mangalore: In a bid to put a brake on use of ear deafening horns by vehicles especially city buses, the RTO officials who plunged into action on July 3, Tuesday, intercepted several vehicles which were using ear shattering horns.
It may be recalled here that it is a punishable offence to use loud horns or pressure horns or honking in silent zones, under the Motor Vehicles Act.
City buses were intercepted near Morgansgate, Bhagini Samaj and other places and cases were registered against those who had installed high intensity horns.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has said that if drivers of vehicles continue to use ear shattering horns, then the license of the driver would be cancelled.
