Mangaluru : Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said on Friday that traffic police will seize buses found honking and driving in rash and negligent manner.
With the police continuing to get complaints of bus drivers honking, halting midway on roads and negligent driving, Mr. Patil said at the weekly phone-in programme on Friday that the city police were contemplating taking action against owners of such buses.
A caller said that a portion of the Sharbatkatte-Paduva School Road had not been repaired after it was dug up for laying water pipe a month ago. To this, Mr. Patil said he had received similar complaint about Kudroli Road being dug up.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Laxmi Ganesh K. said Kadri Kambla Road had been dug up at several points. “Wherever works are complete, we will ask the MCC to repair the dug-up portion,” Mr. Patil said.
To a complaint by a caller from Surathkal about water logging near the Kuloor flyover, Mr. Patil said a letter would be written to the National Highways Authority of India authorities to repair it.
When a caller from Deralakatte sought fixed autorickshaw fares for different routes in the city, Mr. Patil said the issue would be brought before the Regional Transport Authority headed by Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil.
A caller from Urwa Market asked police to take action against city buses that stop near Lady Hill Circle and cause obstruction to vehicles taking free left turn towards Lalbagh. The parking of vehicles on both sides of the road between Mannagudde and Car Street has defeated the purpose of widening the road stretch, the caller said.
