Dharmasthala: The RUDSET institution, established in 1982 has taken roots in 15 states of India, with 25 units in 30 years. About 2.66 lakhs of youths were trained to do their own jobs in rural areas. 1.89 lakhs among them are self –employed now.
The 71% success is an Asian record for rural development, mainly led by Dr. D.Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala. Thus RUDSET has earned international fame for its fulsome attempts and results in a largely agricultural nation like India.
The Rural Development department of Government of India was inspired to open up a unit like RUDSET in every state of India (thirty in all) in every district(600). RUDSET, started in 1982, in the silver Jubilee year of its advent in 2008, created an Institute of Academy for India, and offered it to the nation.
The Institute has become the basic resource Training Centre at the national level now. The Institute trains up directors of self-employment, and guides them under a monitoring system as desired by Central Rural Development department, such a chief monitorial unit being presided over by Dr. D.V. Heggade in Dharmasthala.
The units of rural development and self employment training have not been effective in other parts of the country, as in DK dt. So far. The Central ministry had asked RUDSET here to prepare a system to tone up similar training Centres in other states, to bring them upto the level of DK unit of RUDSET.
The Board of Governors recently in a meeting at the Central RUDSET, decided to set up state RUDSET units provided each state gave adequate land to set it up.
Presently , Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura and JammuKashmir states have come forward to create the fundamental ground facilities(infrastructure) needed to establish a real RUDSET centre in those states. On September 14, Tripura (Agartala) office will open up as 26th unit.
