Mangalore :RV Deshpande, State Minister for Higher Education and Tourism has said that with the objective of promoting tourism in the coastal region, the state government has an ambitious project.
Speaking at the District Congress office on July 28, Sunday, he said the project has been named Karwar Mangalore Coastal Circuit Project and added it would be sent to the Union Government for approval. The Minister said the project would open up a host of job opportunities to youngsters while will also generate income for the government.
He said the Deputy Commissioners of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts, will have to convene a meeting of all those concerned to discuss the issues and identify the places that need to be developed under the project. The report thus presented will be Centre to the Union Tourism Department, he informed.
The State Minister also said all out efforts would be made to clear the pay arrears to guest lecturers and said Rs 22 crores has already been released.
Congress leaders including Ivan D’Souza, Suresh Ballal, Vijaykumar Shetty and Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo were present at the meeting.
