Mangalore: Does Tanneeru Bavi beach attract people and ships with suicidal instincts, to reach its shores only to be grounded or to die in the sea waves there?
So many ships have sunk near that shore, and innumerous tourists and students have ben drowned in its waves while taking a bath, unlike in the sea shores of Norh Kanara District, say, Bhatkal or Gokarn.
A student of second year B.Sc, at St.Aloysius College, identified only as Soreiwung (19), met his watery grave in Tanneeru Bavi while taking bah in the sea along with 4 other students, on Thursday afternoon at 3PM.
The body is reported to have fallen into fast waves after slipping and losing balance carried away by receding fast flows of sea water.
His friends could not save him from the strong currents, police said.
Soreiwung’s body was fished out of waters by some local persons and coast guards, after hours of search. The Panambur police registered a case of accidental death.
