Mangalore : The names of new office bearers of the District unit of the Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP) headed by former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, were announced by the party’s state Secretary V Dhananjaya Kumar at a press meet held at Woodlands Hotel in Mangalore on February 17, Sunday.
Addressing presspersons, Dhananjaya said KJP was now a formally registered party and a gazette notification has also been issued. He said the KJP plans to contest in almost all seats independently and exuded confidence that the party can win at least 40 per cent of the seats.
Continuing, he hinted that the former CM DV Sadananda Gowda was all likely to defect to the JD(S) very soon. Such a step would be of help to the KJP, Dhananjaya said.
DVS feels a lot more neglected in the BJP, he further added.
The new office bearers are : District President : Kadekar Ravindra Shetty ; Vice Presidents : Gokuldas Bhandary, Lawrence D’Souza, Shivappa Pacchanady, Haji Abdul Khader, Bhaskar Rao and Ashok Kumar Jain ; Chief Secretaries : Bhaskar Poojary, Aboobaker Kairangala and Guruchandra Hegde; Secretaries : Lakshmeesh, Ramdas Acharya, Ravindra Uppanthaya, Vittal Salian, Devaki Poojary and Shivashankar Kalladka, Teasurer : Srinivas Shetty Narya Spokesperson : Haji Hammed Kandak .Kiran Shetty, Jyothika Jain and Hameed Kudroli will be the presidents of the youth, women’s and minority wing respectively.
