Mangaluru : The District Journalists’ Conference-Sadhane-Sambhrama-2021 organised by the DK District Working Journalists’ Union was inaugurated  at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall on December 28, Tuesday.

Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp.

A palanquin carrying the different dailies and publications from the district was taken to the function venue prior to the inauguration.

Speaking after the inauguration he said, journalists play a very important role in building a healthy society. He also lauded the efforts of the DK Journalists Union through its various initiatives including Brand Mangalore.

Senior journalist Manohar Prasad presided over the function. City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar was present as a chief guest. He won applause by singing Sirigannadam Gelge song.

A special issue “Sadhane” chronicling the various activities of the Union during the past three years was released by Jagathika Buntara Okkoota President Aikala Harish Shetty.

Ganesh Rao, Chairman of Karavali Group of Educational Institutions released ’Bhavachitra Yana’ by Manohar Prasad. KEONICS Chairman Harikrishna Bantwal distributed books to students of Madappady School.

Mayor Premananda Shetty distributed sports uniform to children of Kutlur school. Patrika Bhavan Trust President Ramakrishna R, its former president Anand Shetty, Mangalore Press Club President Annu Mangalore, DK Working Journalists’ Union President Indaje Srinivas Nayak and others were present.
