Mangalore: AICC Secretary Vinaykumar Sorake has regretted the fact that backward class youth were misled by the saffron outfits.
Addressing a district level meeting of Other Backward Classes (OBC) wing of the KPCC in Mangalore on Friday, Sorake pointed out how most of those arrested in the homestay attack were from backward classes. He said they might have resorted to such acts compelled by poverty conditions.
Sorake also charged the BJP of dividing the society on caste, religion and language lines. He also urged the society to be aware of such moves of the Congress.
MC Venugopal, President of the KPCC OBC Wing, who presided over the function observed that the Congress had good support of minorities and backward classes in the district. He also stated that the Congress cell would request CM to offer educational concession to students belonging to Category I and II.
He also came down heavily on the state government for not appointing a Lokayukta and alleged most of the state ministers were corrupt.
Former minister Vasanth Salian, Mayor Gulzar Banu, Vijaykumar Shetty, former MLA, Ivan D’Souza, PV Mohan, Moideen Bava, Suresh Ballal and others were present.
