Mangalore: It has been learnt that the saffron worth nearly Rs 25 lakh seized at the Mangalore airport on November 3, Saturday, had been procured from Iran.

The two persons arrested in this connection were identified as Mohammad Ali(40) and Vijaynagar Ahmed Nizar (33), both from Nellikunje in Kasargod. They had arrived by a flight from Dubai.

Nearly 500 saffron packets, and 3700 memory cards had been seized. Airport officials have refused to divulge more details.
