Mangalore : Customs officials have seized 12 kg of saffron from Iran which was in possession of a passenger who arrived by a flight from Dubai on August 22, Thursday at the Mangalore International Airport.

The saffron  was valued at Rs 12 lakh and was found hidden in a box in between the clothes in the luggage of the passenger.

The arrested is Abdul Rasheed of Kannur in Kerala district. He had arrived by  a Jet Airways flight. The arrested man has been produced before the court.
