Bhatkal: While Islamic bodies are interested only in greening their Colonies they do not like saffronising in state syllabus while educating Hindus.
The activists of students of Islamic organisation (SIO) of India in this town on the borders of Udupi district to the north held a protest rally on Friday against changing the syllabus by the state in its educational systems while holding on to religious teachings in Muslim Madarasas (Private schools).
Naseef Ikkeri a SIO leader, stressed on building a healthly student community on the basis of moral and humanitarian values as I Quran.
But he alleged that the (BJP) govt. was hell bent on poisoning young minds by drastically revising social science text books in primary and HP classes.
Elements of communalism are incorporated in them which can lead to social disharmony.
The protestors demanded the withdrawal of new syllabus Rafiq another speaker explained aims and objective of SIO and asked for social justice and local multi cultural heritage. Protestors chanted slogans against BJP rule.
