Mangalore: The Sahaya TV launched in city 2 months ago for 90 minutes only and to reach lower strata of society, focused on issues affecting them, has expanded into a 24×7 full scale channel now. We welcome the enterprise.
The inaugural programme (of 24/7) was held at Hotel Mothi Mahal on Friday, July 15, speaking on the happy occasion, P.B. Harish Rai, DK Journalists Union chief, said that in a fast moving world, information and fresh news had to reach the people(viewers) at the shortest time, with an accuracy in details. The electronic media of late had lost its credibility like the print media going in for sensationalism, paid news, and manufactured sentiments in recent years, and had to regain its place as a responsible fourth estate force.
A.J.Shetty, chairman, Sahaya TV, presided on the event. The new channel aims at increasing incomes and helping poor families. There are several programmes like live debates, interviews, humorous shows, programmes for women and kids, besides songs, movies and documentaries on view.
Programmes will be in Tulu (news etc). Kannada, and English, beamed from studies at Laxmi Kripa Buildings in Pandeshwara in Mangalore. There is a competent staff working hard.
Sadashiva Das, MD, Suresh Kottari, PRO, STV, and Journalist Prakash Pandeshwar, Ganesh Gatty, Ashraf, Arun Shetty, Noor Nawaz among others were present.
