Udupi:  Members of the Udupi district unit of the Samatha Sainika Dala staged a dharna in front of the Udupi taluk office on July 25, Wednesday, seeking stern action against the accused in the incident reported from Srikakulam wherein five scheduled caste men were killed. The agitators also burnt the effigy of  Botcha Satyanarayana, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President, who they alleged was trying to grab the lands of Dalits.

Among those who participated in the protest included Vishwanath Petheri, District President of the Dala, Babanna Birthi, Manjunath Maduvana and others. The protestors also forwarded memoranda to the Prime minister  and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh through Tahsildar of Udupi seeking action against the accused.
