Mangalore: A Samudaya Jagrithi Abhiyana Kala Jatha aimed at bringing the specially abled children to the mainstream society by ensuring them good education and various facilities, was inaugurated near the Mangaladevi Temple in Mangalore on October 8, Monday . The programme was organized under the joint auspices of Zilla Panchayat, Public Education Department, Block Education Officers Office, South Zone and Block Resource Centre. Geetha, Assistant Project Officer, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana, inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, she said education is today a fundamental right and all children in the age group of 6-14 are to be given free and compulsory education. At the same time, she said even the specially abled children should get due attention by ensuring that they were provided good education. Education to All objective cannot be realized unless the special kids too are brought under the purview of education, she added.
Rajalakshmi, Block Education Officer, presided over the function. Peetambar, Block Education Officer, Pradeep Kumar, Assistant Project Officer, DIERT. Muralidhar Bolar, local Corporator and Ganesh Bolar were present on the dais.
A street play -‘Samanvaya Shikshana-Vishesha Makkalige Varadana’ was staged by Maa social workers team from Ekkur.
The jatha will be held for two days at various places including Derlakatte, Asaigoli, Kotekar Beeri, Tokkottu, Farangipete, Kaikamba, Edapadavu Neermarga and Vamanjoor.
